A Changing of the Guard

There have been a lot of changes behind the scenes at Incredible Edible Todmorden over the past year or so, so we wanted to post a quick update.

As of the 27^th of August 2024, our chair Mary and secretary Judy have stepped down from the IET committee. Their roles have been taken over by Catherine as chair and Jacqueline as secretary. This follows Estelle officially handing over her role of communications lead to Ady and Dawn passing on the role of treasurer to Matthew at our 2024 AGM in January.

This has been a long process that started with our first transition meeting on the 19^th of March 2023. Knowing that several of our founding and longstanding committee members were planning on stepping back, we set to work to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Mary and Judy in particular have spent the past year supporting their successors to settle into their new roles, kindly sharing their knowledge and experience and being in hand to offer advice where needed.

All of the current IET committee would like to thank Mary, Judy, Estelle, and Dawn for their tireless work and contribution to not just IET but to our whole community over the years. They’ve been instrumental in creating a movement that has spanned the globe, put Todmorden on the map internationally, and inspired a generation of people to be the change.

At Gardening Sunday on the 1^st of December (10am onwards as usual), we’ll be hosting a celebration to show our appreciation for their work over the years. Please mark your calendars and join us if you’re able to.

And of course, despite these changes behind the scenes, our work continues the same as always. Gardening Sundays continue to run on the 1^st and 3^rd Sundays every month, and we’ve got a number of one-off special events planned, including our annual festive craft session, pancake day activities, and more.
