Todmorden Train Station
IET was keen to adopt space at railway stations for gardening, and it’s been wonderful seeing this trend continue to grow over time. IET’s beds at Todmorden train station are still one of the first things people see as they arrive in the town by train.
These raised beds, originally called ‘Reggie’s beds’, were one of IET’s first planting initiatives and were named after the station master who was very keen on what we were doing and helped us to look after them.
The raised beds in this area were once quite extensive, but the need for extra car parking has reduced this to the current area by the carpark entrance.
Planters on the platform were donated by Todmorden College and are now looked after by the Friends of Todmorden and Walsden Stations.

Access Information
There is level access from the station carpark, with raised beds at around 16 to 24 inches high. There is a single 7 inch step up to the beds themselves. There is plenty of space to access the outer edges of the beds (bearing in mind the step), but limited space between them. Seating is available in this area if you need to take a break. Signage in this area is due to be replaced soon.
