The Golden Garden

This garden emerged during the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2021, as IET was encouraged to keep working outdoors to support community mental health and wellbeing. The council removed high, prickly hedges here, and we planted a range of vegetables, edible flowers, and herbs.

We’re lucky to have the support of the owners of The Golden Lion, who are big advocates of IET’s work and often help us with cooking, donations, and volunteering. One of the most spectacular Little Libraries is here too.

There is level, step free access from the street to this area via the path. Planting here is all at ground level and can be accessed from all sides, but parked vehicles often mean that access is limited from the kerbed sides of the area closest to The Golden Lion. Signage in this area is due to be replaced soon.
